What if it goes right? A new way to think about showing up on social media

Ever had a post sitting in drafts for days? Or found yourself stuck in that loop of overthinking every word, every image, every possible reaction?

You’re not alone.

I often hear small business owners say, “I don’t post because I’m worried no one will see it… or it might come across the wrong way… or people will think I’m showing off.”

We end up catastrophising before anything’s even happened. And it’s usually our mindset, not the algorithm, that stops us in our tracks.

But here’s something to try instead:

Flip it.

Instead of imagining the worst, ask yourself: What’s the best case scenario here?

  • What if someone sees your post and it genuinely helps them?

  • What if it sparks a conversation that leads to a booking, a sale, or simply a lovely connection?

  • What if you post it and think: “Yes, I did that. I showed up for my business – and myself – today.”

Even just hitting publish can be a win. A quiet victory that says: I didn’t let fear or doubt take the lead today.

Sure, not every post will fly. There’ll be slow days, quiet weeks and moments where it feels like no one’s watching. But that doesn’t mean your content isn’t working. And it definitely doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

The difference is, now you know how to get through the dips. You’ve got tools, perspective, and resilience. You know how to come back to your why, reconnect with your audience and be kind to yourself in the process.

So next time that little voice says “don’t post,” pause and ask instead…

What if this goes better than I imagined?

Try flipping things this week and let me know the outcome.
